Last weekend saw riders from across the UK and beyond congregate at Mill Hill School in London for the 2015 Adventure Travel Film Festival, hosted by Michelin backed Austin Vince of Monda-Sahara fame, and acclaimed two-wheel travel author Lois Pryce.
Both Austin and Lois have completed some amazing rides, which have taken them to far-flung corners of our planet. The pair now organise this superb event to inspire other like-minded people to undertake their own adventures, by bringing them together to watch a collection of independent travel films.
The two day festival was also attended by the likes of author Graham Field, who completed a 15,000 mile ride to Mongolia on a £700 KLR 650 he found on eBay, and Chris Scott who is a leading travel expert on the Sahara Desert, and author of the Adventure Motorcycling Handbook. Even comedian and bike lover Ross Noble turned up to enjoy the atmosphere.
The audience were treated to a wide range of films ranging from the 1930s to modern day, covering a variety of forms of transport including two-wheels. This included a showing of the rare 14 Horsepower Through Africa, which follows six Austrian nationals riding from Cape Town to Cairo in 1935, on three 14bhp 2-strokes, each with a sidecar and passenger. Try finding knobbly tyres for that!
Showing just what people and their bikes can do, the Adventure Travel Film Festival is a celebration of just what we can achieve on two-wheels!
