Riding overland to a far flung destination is far from easy, even at the best of times.
However, when Sushanth Shetty decided he wanted to ride from his home in London, all the way to Bangalore in India on a Suzuki Hayabusa, no doubt there were more than a few raised eyebrows.
Aiming to do the journey in record time, Sushanth took what to many was a less than practical machine, and less than practical tyres (well, at least when you get further east, where so called ‘roads’ can be anything but) in the form of Bridgestone’s Battlax T30s a surprised everyone by making it looks pretty easy!
Learning of his adventure, he was also invited by organisers to speak at the popular India Bike Week, which is a growing annual event which takes place in the popular tourist area of Goa.
Amazingly, upon reaching India Bike Week, Sushanth was still riding the very same set of Bridgestone T30 sport touring tyres which had been fitted to the bike before he left London.
He commented:
“I have been in love with the Hayabusa for as long as I can remember and 12,500 kilometres later, the bike has been ridden off-road and it’s hit 180mph on the first set of Bridgestone T30s, and all it’s asked for is a bit of chain lube. Suzuki India has now rebuilt it for me, and they said it just needed a service! I couldn’t have picked a better bike!”
