Michelin are working on revamping much of their track and hypersport tyre range in 2015 with the introduction of four exciting new products which they say are “designed to meet the needs of all riders, from the professional racer to the track-day enthusiast.”
The new products, which will be available from Cambrian as soon as they arrive in the UK, are as follows:
- Power SuperMoto
This has been developed in collaboration with riders in the 2014 FIM SuperMoto World Championship. The ranges features a new 16″ version, and revised rubber compounds which are said to “significantly and simultaneously improve handling, feedback from the front, grip and longevity.”
- Power Slick Evo
Intended for the track and described as ideal for weekend racing the new Power Slick Evo is reportedly “Easy to handle, it features Michelin Adaptive Casing Technology (ACT) and a new highly versatile rubber compound that avoids having to make difficult tyre choices depending on weather and circuit conditions.”
- Power Cup Evo
This is the treaded, road-legal version of the new Power Slick Evo.
- Power SuperSport Evo
Designed for both road and track use, the new new Power SuperSport Evo “delivers excellent longevity and wet and dry performance, thanks to a combination of new rubber compounds and Michelin Adaptive Casing Technology.”
Michelin see the rolling out of these four new tyres in 2015 as testimony to their passion for motorsport, but they also feel that racing means much more than that stating “As a longstanding component of the company’s DNA and philosophy, racing is an ideal laboratory for testing new technologies in the most extreme conditions of use. The synergy between racing and hypersport tyre development is particularly relevant today.”
Having announced its return to MotoGP in 2016, Michelin is already gearing up for a new challenge in motorcycle racing’s premier class, where bikes can deliver anything up to 250bhp. They are already set to adopt the 17 inch wheel size, which is the market standard for sports and road motorcycles.
Expect to see all sizes and prices in our Cambrian catalogue, due out before the end of the month!
