Lee Dunham is something of a British Motocross legend, having won 7 coveted major MX championships, as well as 5 IMBA championship titles over a career spanning 23 years.
Following his decision to retire from racing in 2013, Lee has opened his very own motocross academy, and he opened the facility a little earlier this year with a practice day dedicated to young riders aged from 6 to 16 years old. With the support of Maxxis Tyres, amongst others, the opening day was a great success and saw Lee giving on-going support and advice to the next generation of potential stars.
“Launching the LDR training facility is a step into new territory for me, and it’s a real buzz” said Lee. “Having completed 23 years of competitive racing, it is great to be able to give amateurs the opportunity to follow in my footsteps.”
“The practise day was a complete success. There was a fantastic turn out with 40 kids eager to jump on the bikes from the moment they arrived, and none of them wanted to leave at the end of the day. It’s rare to have a perfect day of competing and it was great to have everything going off without a hitch. Getting the chance to be a part of some of the kids first ever training session was very rewarding, and it was even better being able to see such a vast improvement as the day went on. I want to take this opportunity to thank the Kawasaki Motors UK Team, Jeff, Dylan, Maxxis Tyres, Factory Pink, Team Apico LPE Kawasaki, as well as the caterers, photographers, the locals, council, and most importantly the kids that came.”
The new facility is open to all abilities from the age of 4 upwards. With a choice of small group sessions, or intensive one-to-one training days at various locations nationwide, there is something for everyone, and a once in a lifetime opportunity to get valuable tuition from a motocross legend.
