Aimed at the growing vintage bike market, the new Metzeler Sportec Klassik has just been unveiled at the 2014 Intermot show in Cologne, Germany.
With it’s origins set in the style of the ME1 CompK, which was Metzeler’s first bias-belted tyre launched in the mid 1980s, the new tyre looks to offer classic bike owners the latest in terms of both performance and handling, without losing any of that important vintage style.
The revised ME1 inspired tread pattern, combined with a new compound, uses a reduced number of tread grooves which promise outstanding grip in the wet, along with more uniform rates of wear. Metzeler has also placed an emphasis on consistency of performance throughout the tyre’s life.
The Sportec Klassik will be available in the following sizes:
- 110/70 -17 M/C 54H TL – Front
- 110/80 V17 M/C (57V) TL – Front
- 130/70 -17 M/C 62H TL – Rear
- 130/80 -18 M/C 65H TL – Rear
- 130/90 -17 M/C 68V TL – Rear
- 140/80 VB17 M/C (69V) TL – Rear
- 100/90 V18 M/C (56V) TL – Front
- 110/90 V18 M/C (61V) TL – Front
- 120/90 -18 M/C 65V TL – Rear
- 4.00 -18 M/C 64V TL – Rear
- 100/90 -19 M/C 57V TL – Front
- 3.25 -19 M/C 54V TL – Front
Metzeler expect the first sizes to be available as of Spring 2015, and as always, as the UK’s No.1 motorcycle tyre wholesaler, Cambrian Tyres will have them on the shelf for the trade.
