The Bridgestone MotoGP photo contest is open at all MotoGP photographers, and is held to celebrate the manufacturers hugely successful involvement with the sport since 2002.
In its 3rd year, the 2014 contest was won by UK based Graham Holt, who snapped the fantastic shot above which shows Movistar Yamaha teammates Rossi and Lorenzo seemingly having a discussion on one wheel at last years Valencia season finale.
A panel of three judges worked through a huge array of entries to whittle it down to the top 20 photos which were on display at the Motor Home in Misano. If you didn’t quite make it to Italy don’t despair, as they can also be viewed via the official Bridgestone Press Site.
The top 3 entries all received a prize from Bridgestone:
- Graham Holt (UK) – 1,000 Euros
- Friedrich Weisse (Germany) – 500 Euros
- Marco Guidetti (Italy) – 250 Euros
Judges felt that Graham’s entry captured the true “spirit of camaraderie and competition as well as the technical skill and prowess of Jorge Lorenzo and Valentino Rossi on the track.”
Although their reign at the pinnacle of motorsport as sole supplier to the MotoGP series comes to an end after the 2015 season, Bridgestone can boast some impressive achievements having only entered to sport back in 2002 when it was an open series:
- 2002 Kanemoto Racing and Proton Team KR first teams to use Bridgestone tyres
- 2007 First MotoGP™ World Championship won on Bridgestone rubber by Casey Stoner and the Ducati team
- 2008 Another World Championship win courtesy of the legendary Valentino Rossi on a Bridgestone-shod Fiat Yamaha.
- 2009 Bridgestone becomes the first Exclusive Tyre Supplier to the FIM MotoGP™ World Championship
- 2012 Bridgestone celebrates 100th victory on Bridgestone Tyres in Misano
- 2013 Misano is also the setting for the 200th MotoGP™ Grand Prix run on Bridgestone tyres
And don’t forget the MotoGP derived technology now available in Bridgestone’s VR46 ‘tested and approved’ tyres, bringing the latest in race technology to the road….
