Jordi Tixier & Pirelli Claim FIM Motocross World Championship MX2 Title

Jordi Tixier

The final of 17 fixtures in the MX2 class of the 2014 FIM Motocross World Championship was held on the hard pack terrain of Leon, Mexico in front of a huge crowd of 30,000 spectators.

The fight for the title went right down to the wire this season, as Dutchman Jeffrey Herlings went into the round with a 23 point lead over teammate Jordi Tixier.

After breaking a femur just eight weeks earlier, Herlings decided to make an early return in order to try and clinch the title, but was clearly in some pain as he registered 14th and 10th placed finishes.

Running on Scorpion MX Mid Soft 32 Pirelli’s, Frenchman Tixier seized his opportunity with his second overall GP win, and a 3rd placed finish on the day to claim the MX2 title.

The motocross season will finish on 28th September when the best athletes and a host of Grand Prix teams travel to Kegums in Latvia for the Motocross of Nations.
