The Ulster GP is billed as the ‘World’s Fastest Road Race’ and the 7.4 mile long Dundrod circuit is hugely popular amongst riders who like to spend their time between the hedges.
This year saw a huge mix in terms of weather conditions, but that certainly didn’t deter Michelin sponsored Daley Mathison fresh from his win at Aberdare as he went on to put in some impressive times on the Hol-Taj Suzuki GSX-R1000 and GSX-R600, both equipped with Michelin Power Cup tyres.
On the GSX-R1000 Daley came 6th, close behind the big names in road racing such as Guy Martin, Bruce Anstey and Michael Dunlop. He also finished ahead of 8 time TT winner Ian Hutchinson. He then followed that up with an impressive 7th place in the Supersport class. Overall this year Mathison has notched up 5 race wins and 16 podium finishes.
After a very successful Ulster GP campaign Mathison commented: “The Ulster Grand Prix is like a small TT and although conditions were tricky at times, I pushed really hard to achieve these results. My tyres performed faultlessly throughout – from first-gear hairpins to the fast straights, where speeds can easily exceed 180 mph!”
