Despite some very mixed weather conditions which saw both sunshine and rain showers throughout the day, German tyre brand Metzeler enjoyed a successful Ulster GP last weekend.
Metzeler riders took to every step of the podium over the course of the event around the super quick 7.4 mile course, with Dan Kneen taking a Superstock victory and Ivan Lintin winning the supertwins whilst Guy Martin also recorded podium finishes in the Supersport and Superbike races.
The opening Supersport race was stopped on the second lap due to heavy rain, but when it got underway again Dan Kneen and Dean Harrison traded place throughout the five laps with Kneen crossing the line just 0.001s ahead on the line for his first international road race victory.
The only Supersport race of the day was restarted on the first lap after a stoppage, with William Dunlop taking an early lead ahead of Bruce Anstey. Dunlop led into the final half a lap, whena cruel twist of fate saw him retire to hand the win to Bruce, with Guy Martin taking 3rd.
In the first Superbike race, Martin took the lead early on to trade places with Bruce Anstey. Holding a slender lead, he was caught up behind a back marker allowing the Kiwi to pass him as Martin took 2nd place.
The second Supersport race was cancelled due to a red flag incident and worsening weather, but the Supertwins were able to get out for their race with Ivan Lintin dominating from the front to win by nearly 15 seconds.

“The racing got off to a flying start for Metzeler with Guy taking victory in the Dundrod 150 Superbike race on Thursday in dry, sunny conditions. Saturday however saw our riders using various combinations of rains, inters, slicks and DOT tyres due to constantly changing weather making tyre choice difficult. Ivan Lintin showed his class in tough conditions and Dan Kneen’s Superstock win was very well deserved after some impressive rides this year. Next up for Metzeler’s road racing programme is our trip to the Far East and Macau in November”
