This Sunday saw the 78th annual Bol d’Or 24-Hour race, which was held at the Magny-Cours circuit as part of the FIM Endurance World Championship.
Hoping to make it three wins in as many years were riders Gregory Leblanc, Matthieu Lagrive and Nicolas Salchaud of Team Kawasaki SRC on the number 11 ZX10R. At their disposal the team had a number of products from the Pirelli race range:
After starting from 16th on the grid the team suffered a setback when Leblanc crashed during the first hour of the race, and they also battled constantly changing weather conditions. With the track alternating from dry to wet several times throughout the race the intermediate Diablo Wet tyre with it’s tweaked land to sea ratio for optimum drainage on wet track surfaces was an ideal solution.
With some impressive riding and fast lap times the team worked their way up through the field in order to stage an exceptional comeback completing 743 laps with a total of 24 pit stops, completing an average of 31 laps per set of tyres.
By the end of the race the Kawasaki SRC riders had a 5 lap advantage over the second place team giving the team their three wins from three. They have also previously taken four consecutive victories from 2010 at the Le Mans 24-Hour race.
