Daley Mathison Michelin Darley MoorMichelin rider Daley Mathison made an impressive start to his racing year at the weekend, with two strong performances in the Formula 600 events at Darley Moor.

Daley was entered into a total of four races over the weekend, two Open and two Formula 600 classes. After testing on the Saturday highlighted a problem with his newly-finished Suzuki GSX-R1000 Superbike it had to be retired, and he entered all four races on the Hol-Taj Suzuki GSX-R600.

In the Open Class race Daley had to compete with 1000cc machines on the GSX-R600 and finished a very respectable 3rd and 4th despite to uneven competition.

In his two Formula 600 races he took two impressive wins after coming from second place in the starting lineup.

Reflecting on his two wins Daley said:

“I was really pleased with the upgraded Hol-Taj 600 – it performed perfectly. So much so that I think I led every lap in both races.

I have to say that the Michelin tyres I was riding on were excellent. I was running Michelin Power Cup tyres throughout the weekend and they performed faultlessly, giving me great confidence and allowing me to push really hard without compromising on safety.”

Mathison concluded: “The main event in 2014 for me is the TT and I’ve great confidence that the combination of Michelin tyres and the Hol-Taj Suzukis will give me the tools to return some very creditable results, both on the Isle of Man and the other road racing events I’ll be competing in.”
