As part of their efforts to inspire more riders to get out and discover the best of Britain, Adventure Bike Rider Magazine have teamed up with Bridgestone to bring you some amazing routes right across the UK!
In their May/June 2019 issue the team headed to Wales, on a route that took them from Goldcliff on the Severn Estuary, all the way to our hometown of Aberystwyth on the Mid Wales coast.
Covering more than 200 miles, the route takes in some of Wales’ very best road and off-road routes, including the gravel of Manmoel Road, the bends of the Black Mountain Road, and the Old Roman Road near Trecastle.

To take on this wide variety of terrain, ABR opted to fit Bridgestone’s new Battlax Adventurecross AX41, a 50/50 adventure tyre which is new to the market this year.
Designers at Bridgestone have worked hard to optimise the shape and layout of the tread blocks, to reduce block deformation under braking on the trailing edge. This improves the stability and durability of the tread.
After a thorough test, ABR said:
“We rode this route on Bridgestone’s new Battlax Adventurecross AX41 tyres. The tyres have been designed to offer a great combination of on and off-road performance, and they certainly got their share of both on our Wales Coast to Coast ride.
I was pleasantly surprised by just how well the knobblies perform on the tarmac, offering a reassuring amount of grip, and they felt sure-footed on the green lanes as well.
We’ve put around 2,000 miles on one set, and they’ve still got a fair amount of life in them!”
You can pick up the latest issue of ABR for full route details, including details of the .gpx file download for your sat nav.
The AX41 range covers a large number of adventure motorcycles, and is currently in stock at Cambrian Tyres for our trade customers.
