Sadly injury brought Darren King’s title ambitions to an abrupt end last season, but the high-flying vet has already shown his intent for 2019 with a dominant performance at Wroxton Circuit.
King, who has been accepted onto the Bridgestone Support Scheme for the second year running, was competing in his first race of the season last weekend, with the unseasonable weather making for perfect track conditions.
Despite as strong Vets field, King was dominant in the over 40s class, leading from the front on his Suzuki machinery to go 1-1-1 for the overall victory, laying down a marker to the chasing pack for the rest of the season.
Darren wasn’t the only Bridgestone support rider to enjoy success on their first weekend of the new season, with young Ben Zeale going 2-2-1 for the overall win in his class with Cornwall and Devon MXC. What a way for the young rider to celebrate his birthday….
A week earlier, West Yorkshire Vet Danny Blakeley also found himself on the podium at Gale Common, with a superb 2-1-2 result against some stiff competition.
All three riders are riding on Bridgestone’s acclaimed Battlecross tyres this season, which are gaining widespread recognition in the UK motocross market, thanks in part to some outstanding results from the likes of Josh Gilbert and Josh Waterman last season to name just two riders.
