With all this late winter sun, there’s a lot of busy journalists out there piling on some early season miles as they put the latest machines on the market to the test.
The team at Motorcycle Sport & Leisure have an enviable fleet at their disposal right now, including Honda’s CB1000R+ and Suzuki’s V-Strom 650XT.
Although these are two entirely different bikes, one thing they do have in common is their original equipment tyre supplier – Bridgestone!
In the April issue of MS&L, in the long-term review section, Ross Mowbray and Chris Moss both gave readers a little feedback on how the two bike’s tyres had performed.
After riding the big Honda, Ross commented:
“The bike’s easy going nature, smooth power delivery and lightweight handling (coupled with subtle electronic rider assists working furiously in the background) help to make it surprisingly agile in the wet. Of course, I’ve also got to compliment the Bridgestone Battlax Hypersport S21s, which come fitted to the bike. It’s a bit of a treat to get such high quality OEM rubber as standard, so props to Honda for that. once the tyres were warmed up (which really doesn’t take much), I generally found the level of grip exceptional. Admittedly, I haven’t been out there properly thrashing the bike, but for sensible, progressive riding in the wet, they have proved to be more than capable. I didn’t have to think about them, and that’s arguably the greatest compliment I can pay.”
The Suzuki V-Strom 650XT comes fitted with Bridgestone’s popular Battlax A41, a 90/10 adventure tyre aimed at riders who spend most of their time on the tarmac.
With a 700 mile winter trip to the North East and back under his belt, Chris said:
“Luckily my 650 was shod with Bridgestone’s A41 adventure bike tyres. Just like the bike itself, they can be relied on to provide good performance regardless of the weather, and are a real asset to the overall package. I really rate these sports touring tyres and their superb versatility.”
