Occupying the same space in the market as Dunlop’s newly launched SportSmart TT, Pirelli”s replacement for the popular original Rosso Corsa promises to deliver racetrack performance to the road.
So does that mean that it is in competition with Pirelli’s own, already popular, Supercorsa SP V2?
Not so according to Piero Misani, who is the head of Pirelli’s motorcycle division worldwide.
The Supercorsa SP V2 will remain as Pirelli’s premier racing street tyre for fast road and track use, with the Rosso Corsa II sitting close behind to offer riders a more versatile, high-performance sports tyre option.

Designers worked hard to create a tyre that perfectly complements Pirelli’s current range, creating a slightly less focused product which offers better durability, wet grip and performance across a broad range of temperatures than the Supercorsa.
Just like it’s predecessor, just 6% of the Diablo Rosso Corsa II‘s surface is covered by the tread pattern, although it has been significantly re-designed to offer better mechanical grip and shift more water from around the contact patch at varying angles of lean.
The tyre’s versatility is further enhanced by the use of a dual compound front and tri-compound rear tyre construction. The near-slick edges on both front and rear use 100% carbon black for maximum grip when the bike is at full lean, and the central areas use high or 100% silica compounds for better longevity and faster warm up times.
If you’re looking for a versatile tyre that can handle both road and track, this could very well be the one for you!
