If you’ve got a heavy touring bike, you’ll probably know by now that they place very different kinds of demands on your tyres.
To combat this in recent years, many major tyre manufacturers have released specially adapted version of their sport touring tyres, which are designed to better cope with these different forces.
Bridgestone are one of several manufacturers who have gone down this route, which is why it comes as no surprise to see a special ‘GT’ spec tyre in their new Battlax T31 sport touring range.
Recently, one of our trade customers received an email from an IAM rider who had bitten the bullet and bought a set for his own bike:
“Morning Chris,
I remembered you asked me to email my first impression of the T31 GT’s..
Just back from Western France, just under 1,000 miles with all sorts of weather from sunshine through to absolutely torrential rain as a storm passed through France.
I’ll be honest with you Chris, as a first impression, these are the best tyres you’ve sold me over the years..

They are quiet, great in the dry ( turn in beautifully) – but, they are absolutely awesome in the wet. We had standing water on two days, they track well on the motorways but are great around corners and long bends.
I did a bike swap with a pal of mine on an FJR (you’ll remember I had an FJR before the Trophy) who had put new Pilot Road 4’s on at the same time as I did, so we had a direct comparison. The T31’s tip in quicker, they are faster steering and feel ‘lighter’ with much better feedback – we both felt the same.
If they wear as well as they do everything else, they will be brilliant!”
Many thanks for Chris Mullins Tyres for forwarding the review to us as the main UK distributor for Bridgestone 2-wheel.
