Every year the focus of the motorcycle trials world turns to the shores of Loch Linnhe in Scotland, close to the town of Fort William, for the famous Scottish Six Days Trial..
As the largest trials event in the world, it sees 282 international competitors tackle a grueling six days of trials action in the Highlands, over a large and varied terrain types. Those who make ti to the finish will cover more than 500 miles, with more than 180 hazards to overcome.
Once again Michelin have teamed up with Trial Magazine to bring live information on the morning of each of the six days with Nevis Radio, based in the start area. Hosted by John Weller and John Moffat, the show will include live rider interviews along with the latest event news on its hugely popular radio station.
Last year Dougie Lampkin took his record-breaking 11th win on his Spanish fuel-injected Vertigo, only dropping a single mark on the final day. Lampkin has won the last six Scottish Six Day events, and will be hoping to make it seven in a row next week. Following Dougie was Gas Gas rider Jack Price, with fellow Gas Gas rider Michael Brown in third. This result gave Michelin a complete podium lockout, with all three riders using their proven Trial X-Light tyres.
Michelin themselves have a proud history at the SSDT, which stretches back more than forty years. The French firm’s first win came in 1981 when French rider Gilles Burgat rode to victory on his Italian SWM, with Lampkin’s win in 2017 their most recent.
Also returning to the Highlands is the undisputed queen of motorcycle trials, Emma Bristow. The current Ladies World and British Trials Champion also chooses Michelin tyres for the tough terrain, and will return on her Sherco with the goal to improve on her 40th position at the 2017 event.
