As of next year, Metzeler will be expanding the number of products available in their ‘plug and play’ Racetec RR CompK Slick range to try and appeal to club level racers.
The idea behind the CompK range was to provide an option ideal for track day use, with minimal setup being required so that hobbyists with neither the in-depth knowledge or the time could just get out there and ride.
For serious racing, Metzeler continued to offer the Racetec RR range with it’s various compound options.
However, a throughbred product like the Racetec RR, developed through years of experience at the TT and other events, is still aimed squarely at the pros.
Do the majority of club level racers really need a product like this?
In Metzeler’s opinion, no.
Next season club racers will be able to get their hands on soft and medium versions of the Racetec RR CompK Slick, which require far less setup work than Metzeler’s current race-compounded offering. The profile has also been tweaked for race use.
They’ll also be available at a lower price point than the Racetec RR Slick, which carries the kind of premium price tag you’d associate with top end race rubber.
The four additions to the range will be as follows:
- 120/70 R17 NHS TL – Soft
- 180/60 R17 NHS TL – Soft
- 200/55 R17 NHS TL – Soft
- 200/55 R17 NHS TL – Medium
