Earlier this week, Avon announced a recall of their radial Viper Stryke scooter tyres.
All Cambrian customers who previously purchased one of the affected tyres have been contacted, and any stocks have been withdrawn from our warehouse. Please note that non-radial sizes are not affected.

Cooper Tire & Rubber Company Europe Ltd. has determined that a non-compliance which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in all tyres intended for use with motor scooters, identified as follows:

The following illustration shows where to find the DOT information on a sample of one of the affected tyres. The affected DOT serial numbers are detailed in the above table (beginning with 5A– — and ending with a four digit date code (2-digit week and 2-digit year).
Please note that this recall relates to radial scooter tyres only. As shown in the table above, each of the affected tyres includes the letter “R” (for “Radial”) in its size code. Non-radial scooter tyres of the same size (i.e., Avon Viper Stryke scooter tyres without a letter “R” in the size code) are not affected by this recall.
Cooper Tire & Rubber Company Europe Ltd is recalling all of the tires with the identification number(s) above. Cooper Tire & Rubber Company Europe Ltd. has determined that affected tyres may develop an in-service unsatisfactory ride condition, bulge in the tread area or a tread separation that, if undetected, may ultimately result in the loss of vehicle control and increase the risk of a possible motorcycle crash. Users should immediately stop using the affected tyres and contact your local Avon tyre dealer to arrange for a return of the affected tyres and refund of the purchase price.
