In last month’s edition of Fast Bikes Magazine, tech guru Neil Charlton had just fitted a pair of Dunlop’s new SportSmart 2 Max to his BMW S1000R long termer and was letting readers know his first impressions of the new hypersport hoops.
One month on and Neil’s put plenty more miles on the Dunlops, including a Brands Hatch track day – a circuit he’d never ridden before.
In the September issue of Fast Bikes, Neil have readers this update:
“One thing I do want to get off my chest is the brilliance of Dunlop’s SportSmart 2 Max tyres.
I’ve had them on my Beemer for a few months now and it’s made the riding experience so much better, not just because the grip levels in the wet are off the scale, but because the profiles of the tyres really complement the handling of the BMW.
The bike never had any issues in the agility department, but the Dunlops have made the flickability of the S1000R so much sharper. They’re awesome and especially so on track.”
Dunlop’s SportSmart 2 Max features a completely revised front end profile, which the manufacturer says will give riders much greater feel when leaning the bike over towards the edge of the tyre. They are also claiming increased durability, so riders who have already tried the now discontinued SportSmart 2 should expect a little extra mileage to boot.
