Dunlop Celebrate Harley-Davidson Milestone

The team at Dunlop are currently celebrating a very significant milestone, after the manufacturer supplied their 10 millionth tyre to the American motorcycle marque for fitment at the factory.

Dunlop and Harley-Davidson started working together more than three decades ago back in 1981, when they had tyres approved on the Sportster. Just two years later, Dunlop began to supply all OE rubber for the FL models, and since then they’ve developed tyres for some of Harley-Davidson’s most iconic machines.

“Harley-Davidson set demanding standards for their suppliers,” comments Andy Marfleet, marketing manager, Dunlop Motorcycle EMEA. “We are proud of our three decades working in close partnership on a range of models. The 10 millionth Harley-Davidson OE tyre is a significant landmark, and our focus is now on developing innovative new products for forthcoming new Harley-Davidson models.”

Dunlop’s American Elite has become a favourite choice for many Harley riders due to it’s enhanced mileage capabilities. The durability is improved by the use of Dunlop’s Multi-Tread compound on the rear, which offers a more wear resistant central compound and a softer lateral-grip compound on the shoulders.

Recently, Harley Davidson approved the latest Dunlop GT502 for its new XL1200 CX Roadster. These two new GT502 sizes feature an all-new radial construction that is designed to suit the sportier nature of the latest Roadster with its dynamic suspension and upgraded braking components.
