Yamaha’s XSR900 triple combines sporting prowess with retro styling, built around their hugely popular MT-09 naked.
With plenty of options and accessories available, Yamaha have given riders the chance to really make this bike their own in an effort to ride the wave of popularity that is the current Cafe racer scene.
It looks like a lot of fun, and that’s exactly how it rides too.
The bike comes out of Yamaha’s factory fitted with an OE spec ‘M’ version of Bridgestone’s superb Battlax S20 – the same hypersport tyres used on the MT-09 funnily enough.
In the July 27th edition of Motorcycle News, test rider Andy Calton has been giving his feedback on both bike and tyres:
“After nearly 3000 miles on the XSR, the Bridgestone S20s were showing signs of wear. They’ve coped well with a couple of motorway trips and half-an-hour of tough track riding, where the ground clearance of the bike became an issue long before the grip of the tyre did. But I’m sticking with Bridgestone and have fitted the newer version – the S21s front and rear.”
We look forward to hearing how Andy gets on with the new Battlax S21 in the near future – as it offers even more grip on both wet and dry roads, and longer tyre life!
