YART & Bridgestone Take On Le Mans 24h

Yamaha Austria Le Mans 2018

After the long winter break, the 2017/18 FIM Endurance World Championship is back for Round Two an the famous Le Mans 24 Hour in France.

Every year, fans flock to the famous circuit in their tens of thousands for the historic day-night race, which tests not only a riders ability but also their mental strength to fight fatigue and carry on through the night and well into the following day again.

For a second consecutive season, leading factory team Yamaha Austria have joined forces with Bridgestone as part of their effort to take the championship crown.

In last year’s race the team missed out on a win at Le Mans by less than 20 seconds, so riders Broc Parkes, Marvin Fritz and new addition Takuya Fujita are all more determined than ever to repeat their race win of 2009 this weekend.

Their factory Yamaha is fitted with Bridgestone’s off-the-shelf Battlax V02 Slick race tyres, which they hope will help to give them the edge this season.

In his qualifying session, Australian rider Parkes went 3rd fastest, just 0.111s off the top spot. Later that day, Marvin took the top spot in his session, as the European Superstock 1000 competitor from Mosbach continues to impress for Yamaha Austria.

During the night time session they went on to take another impressive 2nd place, and will be back in action later on today for second qualifying.
