Prominent road racer Tom Weeden is set to lead the charge for Team Classic Suzuki at this year’s Isle of Man TT, as Steve Wheatman’s outfit go from old to new with a modern era Gixxer.
A former Senior Manx GP winner, Weeden is certainly no stranger to Michelin’s race tyre range from his time with Cookstown BE, and he recently announced that he is set to partner with the French tyre giant once again in 2020.
Weeden is set to pilot an ex-Ryuichi Kiyonari British Superbike 2016 machine, and he’ll be fitting Michelin’s latest slick and treaded race tyres which are new to the market this year.
Power Slick 2
Tested at Caragena by famous French Endurance racer Jeff Cortinovis, it uses a combination of proven Michelin technologies for amazing on-track performance.
2CT and 2CT+ technology on the front and rear tyre, with differing ratios of carbon black, offer high grip levels at all angles of lean to help riders get the power down for faster lap times.
Power Cup 2
A road legal, treaded race tyre that has already been homologated by premium bike manufacturers including KTM.
The slick shoulders maximise grip at full lean to allow for higher cornering speeds, while the 2CT and 2CT+ technology mirrors that used by the new slick.
Just like Michelin test pilot Jeff Cortinovis, Tom Weeden is himself about to get his first taste of the new Michelin race tyres in a shakedown test at Cartagena.
