As a test of both rider and machine, nothing quite compares to the 37.73 mile long Isle of Man TT Mountain Course!
So if you were picking the ultimate location for a shootout between the latest crop of superbikes, the TT circuit would be the absolute dream, but for the team at 44Teeth that dream was recently a reality!
Earlier this year Al & Baron headed to the Isle of Man with seven of the best new bikes on the market to put them through their paces on the most famous piece of biking tarmac in the world.
They bikes they got the chance to test were as follows:
- Aprilia RSV4 1100 Factory
- BMW S 1000 RR
- Ducati Panigale V4S
- Honda Fireblade SP
- Kawasaki ZX-10R
- Suzuki GSX-R1000R
- Yamaha R1M
Several of those bikes already leave their respective factories shod with Bridgestone’s latest racing street tyre, the Battlax RS11. To take differences in tyres out of the equation, all seven bikes were fitted with a set of these tyres ahead of the test.
When it comes to a high performance road tyre, the Battlax RS11 is very much at the head of the current crop on the market.
The tread pattern has been derived directly from Bridgestone’s treaded race rubber, and adapted to optimise contact patch behavior at all angles of lean.
It’s the first tyre in Bridgestone’s road range to use their latest Variable MonoSpiral Belt technology. Another innovation born on the race track, V-MSB uses a lightweight, durable cord wrapped around the tyre circumference to reduce weight while improving grip, damping and rotational stability.
The clever tech doesn’t stop there either, as the 3LC compound combines a harder centre with softer shoulders for increased cornering performance, while engineers have worked with the carbon black content on a molecular level for better distribution across the compound, resulting in more bite.
