Michelin’s Pilot Road 4 built on the success of the revolutionary Pilot Road 3, once again raising the benchmark in terms of wet weather performance.
The heavily siped tread pattern ensures the tyre clears plenty of water from around the contact patch, and also warms up quickly in colder conditions.
Michelin also offer Trail & GT versions, which have been optimised for road going adventure machines and heavy tourers respectively.

Pirelli Angel GT“Praised for their good wet and dry feel and reasonable mileage – you should get around 8000 miles from a rear in normal use.”
Pirelli’s Angel GT is their latest sport touring tyre, and has received high praise from various press outlets since it’s launch back in 2013.
Again they offer fitments in sizes for adventure bikes which stick solely to the road, and also options which have been fine tuned to offer greater performance on heavy machines.

Avon Storm 3D X-M“Not universally liked, but streets ahead of the original tyres – and a lot cheaper than most of the competition.
Well worth a try.”
The 3D X-M was Avon’s first sport touring tyre to feature their 3D Sipe Technology, which controlled the build up of heat in the tyre by limiting tread flex, as well as boosting wet grip.
Later this year, Avon will introduce their new Spirit ST as their top line sport touring tyre.
As a result, that means the 3D X-M has come down in price to make way for the latest top line product.
