Triumph’s 2018 Tiger 1200 XRt is the British brand’s flagship adventure tourer, and at more than £16,000 on the road, you’d expect it to be something pretty special!
To find out if it’s worth such a big chunk of any rider’s hard earned cash, the team at Bike Magazine have conducted a 3,500 mile UK road test which is out now in their latest issue.
The bike uses the same 1215cc engine that was found in the previous Explorer, and although it has lost 11 kilos over the Explorer, it is still a heavy beast at 243kg dry weight.
As you’d almost expect to find on any modern adventure tourer, there’s ABS and Traction Control, plus various riding modes including a Hill Star Control option.
To keep the bike rolling, Triumph have opted to fit Metzeler’s Tourance Next tyres at the factory.
Bike had this to say about the Metzeler rubber:
“Metzeler’s Tourance Next is standard fitment. It’s classed as a dual-purpose tyre, but other than slightly deeper grooves it looks like a sport touring fitment. Behaves like one too – there’s ample grip in all temperatures and conditions, an adequate sense of security, and although lightly squared by 3500 miles there’s lots of life left.”
