BMW’s latest, limited edition superbike is the very first ‘M’ series motorcycle to be produced by the famous Bavarian marque.
Based around their popular S1000RR, it offers race-bred performance and a list of trick parts to match. Competition proven parts include carbon fibre winglets and wheels, and the bike is tuned to deliver 212bhp at 14,000 rpm. It’s safe to say this is a serious bit of kit, produced for the most demanding riders.
A race inspired machine like the M 1000 RR requires some race inspired rubber to match, and BMW have settled upon Dunlop’s latest SportSmart TT as the original equipment fitment.
Designed for use on both road and track, the SportSmart TT benefits from the same NTEC technology used in Dunlop’s Isle of Man TT winning race rubber. This means that when you pull up at the track,you can drop the rear tyre pressure to create a larger contact patch for maximum grip.
Dunlop’s unique Speed Vent Tread also helps to improve heat dissipation as the tread grooves open and close just like a vent during turn in, allowing for a more consistent performance under hard use.
Dunlop have a proud history working with the racing version of the S1000RR. The BMW Motorrad Team is within touching point of the lead of the FIM Endurance World Championship that concludes at Estoril this weekend. In the French Superbike Championship, Kenny Foray dominated the Ledenon races earlier this month on his Dunlop-shod BMW. On the roads, Peter Hickman has relied on the BMW and Dunlop combination to win the Isle of Man TT, the Macau Grand Prix and set the road racing lap record at the Ulster Grand Prix.
