Fast Bikes, the biggest selling superbike magazine in the UK, has named the Dunlop Sportmax D212 GP-Pro as the winner of it’s ‘Tyre of the Year’ award as the publication completed it’s annual round up of the best bikes, bits and events from the past year.
The Sportmax D212 GP-Pro was developed as part of Dunlop’s successful “Race to Road” programme, and was described as “the ultimate supersport and hypersport road legal track tyre”.
Using the unique NTEC system, riders can reduce tyre pressures for ultimate levels of grip when on track days. The Multi-Tread Technology provides additional stability, traction and support as well as longer tread life. Finally the nylon breaker belts and aramid-fibre belt allow for quicker warm up times for maximum grip as soon as possible.
The tyre proved it’s pedigree earlier this year when Michael Dunlop beat his own class record at the Isle of Man TT with a 131.220mph lap, running quicker than he did on a superbike running on slick race tyres.
Dunlop took five out of the six available podium spots in the Supersport and Superstock classes, and were pleased to see the likes of Michael Dunlop and John McGuinness pushing their machines to the limit with confidence on this years road racing scene.
This combined with it’s amazing grip in the corners and the excellent stability it offered contributed to it winning the award.
