In the May 2017 issue of RiDE Magazine, the team have been reviewing some of the latest products that they’ve been testing, including tyres.
The tyres in question are Metzeler’s treaded Racetec RR rubber aimed at supersport and superstock riders.
Honed on the roads courtesy of Metzeler’s wealth of experience at the likes of the Isle of Man TT and North West 200, they come in two dedicated track compounds which require warmers, with a further ‘Racing Street’ option for fast road riding and occasional track use.
Here’s what RiDE had to say about them:
“The Racetec RR is a tyre designed for road and circuit racing. I’ve been using a medium compound (K2) on the rear and softer K1 on the front of my R6 for a while now.
After four very hot trackdays at Rockingham and Cartagena I’ve gone through two rears – which is actually good for the usage. The softer K1 front still has life left in it.
They turn in easily and offer an amazing amount of grip and feel. Thoroughly planted through corners, they also hook up out of them and are solid under braking.
Even when worn down to the limit, there’s no drama. But they’re absolutely not designed for the wet.”
