After a strong showing last weekend at Matterley Basin, reigning German Women’s MX champion Larissa Papenmeir put on a stunning display for the crowds in Holland as she took the WMX overall at Valkenswaard.
Conditions were definitely less that ideal at the normally sandy circuit, with deep mud causing difficulties for many of the riders, although Larissa certainly didn’t let it slow her down.
The German was hot on the heels of five time WMX champion Kiara Fontanesi in free practice, eventually qualifying in third place behind Nancy Van de Ven.
The opening race saw the top three remain the same from the gate, with Papenmeier claiming a solid third place on the Yamaha.
However, the final moto of the weekend saw her dig deep to jump well clear of the chasing pack, her Bridgestone X10 tyres digging deep to find traction in the mud as she took the win by more than 21 seconds from Fontanesi.
The overall win and maximum 45 points sees Larissa leapfrog Courtney Duncan into the top championship spot after two rounds, much to the delight of her sponsors at Bridgestone.
