Can you do a switchback zero rotation on your bike? Do you even know what a switchback zero rotation is?
Well, one person who does is Michelin sponsored stunt rider Mark Van Driel who has just set a Guinness World Record for the most switchback zero rotations done in one minute.
Mark, a member of the Michelin sponsored 2 Bros Racing stunt team managed 13 rotations in 60 seconds on his Kawasaki ZX6R 636 fitted with Michelin Pilot Road 3 tyres.
A switchback zero rotation involves the rider sitting on the bike facing backwards, using only their balance to steer the bike in a full circle. If Mark’s hands had touched the handle bars at any point during the attempt it would have failed. As it turned out he managed a successful rotation every 4.615 seconds, which is some seriously impressive technical riding! The previous unofficial record had stood at 12 rotations.
After the attempt Mark said:
“With terrible weather on the day of the attempt, I wasn’t sure what we would be able to achieve. Fortunately my stunt bike is fitted with Michelin’s Pilot Road 3 tyres, offering superb grip and stability – even when riding a bike backwards on wet concrete!
