New Bridgestone V02 Tops Performance Bikes Slick Test

Best motorcycle racing slick tyreReleased earlier in 2014, the Battlax V02 Racing Slick is the latest race offering from Bridgestone, and boasts MotoGP derived technologies, now available to racers at all levels, in a comprehensive range of sizes.

  • GP Belt Technology optimises contact pressure and patch size, for consistent grip coming out of the corners.
  • A revised compound reduces warm up times over the Battlax V01 Racing Slick.
  • The Mono Spiral Belt minimises internal friction, providing greater stability and consistency.

In the December 2014 issue of Performance Bikes, racing hero and 250GP winner Jeremy McWilliams decided to put them to the test against some rival slick tyres.

Conducting a blind test at Rockingham, the Bridgestone proved to be 0.4 seconds quicker than it’s nearest rival, the Pirelli BSB spec slick, and was able to sustain the fast lap times for longer.

Editor Matt Wildee commented following the blind test:

“Jezza rated the tyres highly for sidegrip and traction, with a neutral turn-in and enormous front and rear grip, plus enough feel to push hard from the start. Such was their performance that Jeremy got within a second of the outright lap-record of Rockingham on Johnny Mac’s tweaked ZX-10R roadbike.”

He then went on to say that the V02’s “consistency and friendliness mean we’d recommend them for fast trackday use as well as racing.”

So, if you want the fastest slick on the market, Bridgestone it is then.
