During the opening of Pirelli’s new P Zero World of Monte Carlo, the Italian tyre maker unveiled a brand new collaboration with long-time partner MV Agusta.
The two brands share both history and values, and the limited edition ‘Dragster 800 RR Pirelli’ is just the latest in a line of projects that the two companies have worked on together.
With it’s street-fighter looks and thumping 3-cylinder heart, the stunning Dragster special takes no prisoners.
Pirelli Design, which is the manufacturer’s off-shoot for high end projects, worked on both the colour scheme and some functional aspects of the bike, including the tank slider and fairing. Both have been made from a specially formulated rubber, which is said to ensure superior resistance to scratches, rubbing and chemical agents such as fuel.
On the wheels you’ll find a pair of the highly acclaimed Diablo Supercorsa SP racing street tyres, with their iconic ‘flash’ tread pattern. The bike uses a 120/70 ZR17 front and a 200/55 ZR17 rear.
Elsewhere on the bike, the double-textured seat was designed by the Castiglioni Research Centre, and is embroidered with the flash symbol found on the tyre tread. The exhaust has been finished with a special ceramic-based paint, which is said to be very resistant to high temperatures.
Castiglioni Research Centre and by Pirelli Design worked on a colour scheme which would enhance the lines of the “Dragster 800 RR PIRELLI”. This exclusive partnership is clear for all to see in the choice of a matt black base, with glossy inserts painted in yellow, to recapture the Pirelli institutional colours.
This bike will be going into production, to be sold as a limited edition thanks to a separate licence agreement between the two firms, as was the case with the previous Brutale collaboration released last year.
