Michelin To Supply MotoGP From 2016

Michelin MotoGP Tyre Supplier 2016It has been announced that French tyre manufacturer Michelin will be the official tyre supplier to the MotoGP series as of 2016, after their tender was selected by promoter and organiser Dorna Sports.

Michelin sees the deal as the perfect compliment to its existing Total Performance concept, which sees them consistently pushing the envelope in all the areas that affect tyre performance. This allows them to provide riders with increasingly higher levels of grip in both wet and dry conditions.

With MotoGP featuring some of the most technologically sophisticated bikes around, with an output of over 250hp, the level of performance they deliver is very high both mechanically and dynamically. Add to this the world’s best riders, who require the ultimate level of confidence in both their machines and their tyres and you have the perfect proving ground for the technologies of tomorrow.

Following the announcement MICHELIN Motorsport’s Director Pascal Couasnon said:

“Our policy of carrying over our technologies from track to street fits perfectly with the new technical regulations which are due to be introduced in 2016 and which will dictate the use of 17-inch wheels. That is why Michelin decided to submit a bid following the tender process instigated by Dorna Sports. We take this opportunity to thank the governing bodies for the confidence they have placed in us today. Their confidence recognises Michelin’s expertise and the 26 Riders’ world titles it has secured”
