Michelin Announce New Harley-Davidson OE

Michelin Scorcher Harley Davidson 2018 models

Michelin have now announced that they will be supplying two new Michelin-Harley-Davidson co-branded Scorcher tyres as original equipment on selected Softail motorcycles for 2018.

According to the French tyre giant, the Michelin Scorcher 31 features traditional cruiser styling, whereas the Michelin Scorcher 11 offers riders a sportier look. The Scorcher “11” and Scorcher “31” are fitted at the factory on many models already, and can be used as an aftermarket replacement tyre on other specified models too.

Michelin have been working with Harley-Davidson for two years to develop these new tyres. Using computer modelling, engineers from both companies were able to collaborate virtually across their respective global research centres to co-design the tyres and fine-tune them to suit each individual machine. Two years of hard work, rigorous quality control and innovative collaboration resulted in the latest tyres being perfectly matched to deliver the performance needs of various Softail motorcycles.

The exclusive look and performance of these new Harley-Davidson® motorcycles has led to the use of exclusive sizes.

For example, the new Fat Boy combines a 160/60R18 front Michelin Scorcher 11 with a 240/40R18 rear for a bold, distinctive stance, plus exceptional riding pleasure and a great feel.

Breakout models use a front (130/60B21) and rear (240/40R18) Michelin Scorcher 11s as original equipment, while the Low Rider models are to be fitted with Michelin Scorcher 31s front (110/90B19) and rear (180/70B16).
