The Power Supersport Evo is Michelin’s most extreme road-legal tyre, ideal for fast road riding and even occasional trackday use – think one step down from treaded race rubber, and without the need for tyre warmers thanks to a more versatile compound!
In the December 2016 issue of Fast Bikes, Charlie Oakman has recently fitted a pair to his Ducati Monster 1200 R long-termer, and after some experimenting with riding modes and a suitable amount of scrubbing in, here’s what he had to say about them:
“This is an impressive tyre. The additional channels disperse the rain really well and give an enhanced performance in the wet (which is mostly what I have done so far).
Accompanied by MT-10 mounted Beej on a recent trip his sudden torque laden bursts sending the front of the Yam’ skyward were being impeded at points by the surface losing him precious traction. There was no such problem when ramping up the Ducati, even with the additional torque from the Duke’s twin, the tyres bonded with the road securely. Even on a couple of diesel decorated corners the tyres held firm with the softer sides giving that all important confidence inspiring grip.
I touched on the different compounds on the Michelins last month. The harder compound at the centre you can see change on the curvature of the rubber. This should add longevity and I have a few trips over the coming weeks planned to give the Ducati a proper run, which I have to admit I am desperate to do.”
