Known around the globe as the “World’s Fastest Road Race” the Metzeler Ulster Grand Prix is the final of the big three international road races, and 2014 marks the second year at title sponsor for German brand Metzeler.
Last year Metzeler riders secured 4 victories, with Guy Martin taking both Superbike wins and a Supersport win, whilst Ivan Lintin took the Lightweight class win. With a star line up including Guy Martin, Dean Harrison and William Dunlop they will be hoping for another successful Ulster GP this year.
All eyes will undoubtedly be on firm fans favourite Guy Martin, who will be looking to bring his excellent Southern 100 form with him to add to the eleven wins he already has around the 7.4 mile Ulster GP circuit.
Following a maiden victory at the Isle of Man TT earlier this year, Yorkshireman Dean Harrison will also be looking to dominate the field just as he did for the majority of the Southern 100, whilst William Dunlop will hope to add to his first big bike win “between the hedges” which he took in last year’s Superbike race.
Looking ahead to the races at Dundrod METZELER UK Racing Manager Jason Griffiths commented; “The Dundrod circuit is renowned for producing thrilling races. The fast and flowing layout of the circuit makes it a real favourite of the riders. The surface is smooth in comparison to the TT but tyre performance in terms of high speed stability is crucial at Dundrod. Hopefully the weather will be kind to us and we’ll enjoy success on Saturday.”
