With many people now actively looking for an alternative to public transport to commute, especially in larger towns and cities, it is an ideal opportunity to promote the benefits offered by riding a scooter or motorcycle.
As well as being proven to ease congestion following several major traffic studies, powered 2-wheelers allow users to remain a safe distance from one another during these difficult times.
With this in mind, the Motorcycle Industry Association (MCIA) launched a cross-industry initiative earlier this week that brought together people from key sectors of the motorcycle industry who then pooled their thoughts and resources in an online meeting.
Chaired by the MCIA’s CEO Tony Campbell, the meeting included personnel from motorcycle manufacturers and importers, clothing and accessory distributors, motorcycle dealers, insurance companies, consumer/trade media, training and dealer associations.
The group will focus on pooling its collective talents, quickly working to kickstart the industry by promoting powered 2-wheelers as a real alternative to public transport. They will be working on getting the message out that riding a powered-two-wheeler is a viable transport solution to get people moving through the Coronavirus crisis and beyond, regardless of brand choice.
Time is very much of the essence right now, as Tony Campbell alludes to:
“Our government lobbying has been relentless over the past year or so and we are being heard. However, now, more than ever, we have the opportunity to get the powered-two-wheeler message out to a wider audience and help the trade recover as the country starts to move again.”
As things continue to develop, the group will issue reports in the trade press and direct to the MCIA membership.
