In their June 2015 issue, Fast Bikes look for a more cost conscious tyre option for track day riders who want fresh rubber in their popular Grip Advisor section.
There has been a growth in the market for BSB tyres that have done a single session, although many riders are now looking towards older tyre models as an alternative to buying second hand.
Fast Bikes say:
“If you’re after longevity and something fresh, there are uber deals to be had on ageing models, like a firm Fast Bikes’ favourite; Michelin’s 2CT. While it obviously hasn’t got the grip of outright race-derived rubber, the 2CT will last for days and is also hugely versatile. We’ve seen many bikes donning the French hoops at trackdays recently. The feedback available at either end is still, to this day, right up there with the best of tyres. For fast riders, you can expect to sacrifice two seconds a lap, but newbs won’t suffer too much. The 2CT also heats up super-fast, so if you’re riding a trackday, sans tyre warmers, there’s no need to waste half a session getting tyres up to temperature.”
