Gajser & Pirelli Win At Rialo Sardo

Tim Gajser Internazionali d’Italia Riola Sardo

The opening round of the prestigious Internazionali d’Italia got underway in Sardinia at the weekend, and the sandy Riola Sardo circuit to the east of the Italian island.

It was a fantastic start to the event for Italian tyre maker, with their riders Tim Gajser and Jago Geerts dominating proceedings in their respective classes on a combination of the Scorpion MX32 front tyre and Scorpion MX Soft rear.

In the MX1 class, Slovenian rider Gajser took command from the early stages to take the win over Mitchell Evans, while Jeremy Seewer made it an all Pirelli podium as he overcame some minor errors to secure third place.

There was another all-Pirelli podium in the MX2 class as Belgian rider Geerts helod off the challenge of his teammate Ben Watson to win, with Maxime Renaux in third place.

Gajser would also take victory in the Supercampione finale, which mixed the top twenty MX1 and MX2 riders. The reigning MXGP champion had a perfect start to make it to the finish line unchallenged, with Seewer in second and Gautier Paulin in 4th for the Italian tyre maker.

Another sandy circuit awaits the riders for Round 2, as they head to Ottobiano in the northern region or Lombardy.
