The first UK stocks of the new high performance Battlax S21 from Bridgestone only arrived in the UK on Friday, but the new tyre from Bridgestone is already in the press!
The official launch will only take place in a couple of months time, and details are somewhat limited, but Fast Bikes magazine have already got their hands on a pair to fit on Charlie Oakman’s Kawasaki ZX-10R long termer.
This appears to be quite a coup for the magazine to get hold of a set even before we did, but that’s what happens when you have Bridgestone’s North Europe Motorcycle Product Manager on speed dial!
The new Battlax S21 raises the bar for hypersport tyres, offering a level of performance which could only have been dreamed of until now.
After a quick scrubbing in, Charlie says:
“It was not too long before I was confidently sweeping along the Fosseway back to base. The S21’s blurb boasts ‘superb stability, handling, and cornering performance on dry and wet without compromise’ and in this initial trip there is nothing to suggest this is not the case. The fact that they are also reputed to last a massive 35 per cent longer than the S20s will take many more miles to test – and will probably have to involve them being refitted to my next staffer as the Kawasaki’s return is sadly imminent.
Until that point, I’ve asked the chaps to give their more learned impression of my ZX-10s new shoes, and so far my question has met with a big thumbs up.”
The Battlax S21 is currently available in four sizes, with more options due to arrive in the UK in time for Spring:
- 120/70 ZR17 M/C (58W) TL
- 180/55 ZR17 M/C (73W) TL
- 190/50 ZR17 M/C (73W) TL
- 190/55 ZR17 M/C (75W) TL
