Earlier this year the team at Fast Bikes set out to crown their Ultimate Sportsbike 2020 winner, with a choice of ten amazing machines all competing for the top honours.
The initial tests took place on the new Michelin Power 5, and after eliminating several contenders, the top three bikes then headed to Cadwell Park shod with the new Power Cup 2 race tyre to really test their limits.
The top three bikes were as follows:
- Aprilia RSV4 1100 Factory
- Honda CBR1000RR-R SP
- BMW S1000 RR M-Sport
Instead of the usual Portimao sunshine (thanks, Covid!) the guys had to contend with overcast conditions and strong winds on the day of the test as they went in search of a winner.

Power Cup 2
Replacing the Power Cup Evo, this road legal track tyre benefits from Michelin's acclaimed dual compound technology front (2CT) and rear (2CT+) for exceptional performance on on circuit.
Although the latest issue of Fast Bikes has just landed, we’re not going to spoil the result in case someone out there hasn’t yet read issue 372 and the full test.
But as the UK’s leading trade supplier of Michelin motorcycle tyres, we can tell you what Fast Bikes thought of the Power Cup 2:
“To make this test fair and to ensure we had load of grip on track, each machine was kitted with Michelin’s road-legal, track-loving Power Cup 2s.
These latest-generation hoops are ideal for fast road and track riders, with a minimal tread design to optimise dry grip and stability levels.
We ran the fronts at 35psi (hot) and the rears at 25psi (hot), and felt fast and safe on these talkative tyres. The grip levels were hard to fault and the durability of the rubber impressed us all.
If you ride with a sporty inclination and like to tackle the odd trackday, give these a go.”
