Continental’s Ambitious ‘Vision Zero’

Continental Tyres Vision Zero

Our friends at Continental have an ambitious goal – and they call it ‘Vision Zero’.

Continental want to see a world with zero road accidents and zero road fatalities, and will shortly be using their platform as an official partner of Le Tour de France, which starts this Saturday, to promote this goal.

The German firm are much more than just a tyre maker, with a whole separate division devoted to producing various safety enhancing technologies for vehicles.

In the motorcycle market, Continental continue to innovate and deliver a diverse range of safety enhancing products, whether that be their latest range of range of motorcycle tyres, their Blind Spot Detection System, or their Emergency Brake Assist technology to name but a few.

However, Continental recognise that they won’t achieve their goal of Vision Zero with technology alone.

As an official partner of Le Tour de France, they are aiming to utilize the attraction of the race to promote a stronger sense of partnership on the road and mutual consideration between all road users, on both two and four wheels.

Le Tour 2018 will see 7 World Tour teams riding on Continental tyres including Team Sky and four-time winner Chris Froome. Members of the Tour de France staff will also see their support vehicles equipped with premium Continental tyres, all produced in their European factories.

The idea of an accident free road network may seem hugely ambitious, but as the sole UK importer of both Continental’s bicycle and motorcycle tyre ranges for close to three decades, we at Cambrian Tyres are certainly excited to see what the future holds!
