Christoper Mills is an up and coming young motocross rider who is really making a name for himself both in the UK and Europe!
Thanks to the dedication of his family, and tyre sponsorship from Michelin, Christoper has been competing in the European Motocross 85 Championship, and currently lies in 3rd place despite stiff competition from his rivals on the continent.
Recently, Chris and his Dad have taken some time out of their busy travel schedule to speak to the team at Michelin UK about living life on the international motocross racing scene.
“We are very committed to our racing and our ultimate goal is to move our son into the GPs in a few years time – in order to do this we are spending a lot of our time travelling around Europe competing” said Christopher’s Dad, also called Chris. He went on to say:
We have a motorhome which we travel in and we also rent a house in Holland which makes it easier, but already this year we have visited or driven through Austria, Belguim, Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, Holland, Slovakia and of course the UK.
Next month we will head to Latvia for the European MX 85 Championship final and just a week later we will travel to Madrid for the World Championships. We will drive to both meaning approximately a 50 hour journey – something which we endure for the thrill of seeing Christopher race.
We are also learning how to promote Christopher professionally, as without our sponsors none of this would be possible. Having Michelin, a world-renowned quality tyre on board at this relatively early stage in Christopher’s racing career allows us to continue to compete professionally and means that Christopher can compete with the best tyres on the MX market.”
The younger of the two Christopher’s also spoke about his love of racing:
“I’ve always wanted to race at the top level of Motocross, having grown up watching my dad ride – I feel like MX is in my blood. I get an intense feeling of adrenaline and excitement when I race, I go into a different zone. I’ve already had to make sacrifices and remain disciplined to compete at my current level. I either spend my spare time training or preparing to go racing, but I believe that if I want to reach the top I need to push myself to my limits.”
