Suzuki’s V-Strom 650XT has been updated this year both inside and out, and is now styled like it’s popular big brother, the V-Strom 1000.
The updated Euro-4 V-Twin was launched in Spain in spring, with several magazine’s including RiDE joining the Japanese manufacturer to test it out.
A mainstay in the Suzuki line-up, the V-Strom has never had the off-road caliber of certain competitor machines, but then again it’s also very well priced and makes an excellent tourer, commuter and all-rounder.
One other update is the fitment of Bridgestone’s Adventure A40 rubber as original equipment.
In the June 2017 edition of RiDE, Kevin Raymond commented:
“Praise must go to the specially developed Bridgestone A40 tyres. They have a lighter construction than standard A40s, which helps soak up minor road imperfections, leaving the suspension to deal with the bigger stuff.
They also have plenty of grip on dry, dusty Spanish tarmac – I couldn’t get the traction control to kick in except when turning round in gravelly lay-bys.”
