Battlax T31 On Track

Bridgestone T31 on Yamaha R6

The new Battlax T31 from Bridgestone is a sport touring tyre, designed for year-round use come rain or shine.

Part of the very latest breed of sport touring rubber, it is meant to be versatile – but how would it stand up to a day on track at the UK’s premier race circuit?

When this year’s Yamaha Supersport Pro Tour rolled into Northamptonshire earlier this year, it seemed like the ideal time for Fast Bikes’ Charlie Oakman to find out for himself.

This year Charlie has been hooked up with the latest YZF-R6 as his long term test bike, and he’s been running some Battlax T31 hoops for the past couple of months.

In the August 2018 issue of Fast Bikes, Charlie had this to say:

“The T31s are a sport touring tyre and have now completed 1,500 road miles, while being veterans of three trackdays which must be some 500 miles ridden in anger.

They haven’t snotted up, the wear is marginal and I have to give a massive thumbs up as an all-round tyre suited to a high-mileage rider who likes the occasional trackday without wanting to change wheels or tyres.

They are a great all-rounder, as demonstrated later as the day at Silverstone came to a close and a downpour ensued that they lasted my entire, enthusiastic ride home.

The T31s were as good at keeping me upright on wet roads as they had been knee down flying around Stowe corner.”

Keen to evaluate Charlie’s mods to the bike, Yamaha’s Marketing Manager Jeff Turner also took it for a spin. Coming off Bridgestone’s Battlax R11 race rubber, it took him a little time to gel with the T31s, but they soon got his approval too.

The Battlax T31 is currently part of our RST Helmet Bag offer for trade customers.
