In order to test out the Avon Storm 3D X-M, the riders behind Bigbikemad.com left the warmth of their comfy office on some ZZR’s for a 400 mile round trip in Northern England to see how the tyres performed!
Setting off for the Yorkshire Dales on a cold but sunny 6 degree morning, the riders were reportedly impressed with the noticeably faster turn in, when compared with the competitor tyres they had just replaced. They also reported that ‘grip seemed almost unlimited’, with no stability issues when travelling at speed.
On the second day the riders were subjected to some very heavy rain on some open and windswept roads, but again the Storm 3D X-M impressed with grip ‘almost as good as the dry’.
The riders eventually covered close to 500 miles on a mix of motorway and country roads, and they reported virtually no signs of wear on either front or rear.
Summing up they said:
“We’re happy to recommend the Storm 3D. It’s a good example of modern technology being harnessed to keep our riding safer; and the technology works. Grip is excellent, wet or dry, and the long life claims seem to bear investigation, making this tyre a good choice if you plan on doing a lot of touring or enjoy copious use of the throttle.
