With just the final round in Cahors to go, German tyre manufacturer Metzeler are close to getting their hands on three titles across all classes at this year’s FIM Enduro World Championships.
Following the latest round at Fabriano, Giacomo Redondi has already claimed the Junior title on his Honda, building an unassailable 86 point lead over Albin Elowson, claiming his 7th consecutive double win of the season in the process.
In the E1 class Eero Remes and Nathan Watson, both on Metzeler, will go into the final round in France to fight it out for the title. A similar situation exists in the E3 class where Steve Holcombe will be trying to fend off challenges from Johnny Aubert and Manuel Monni, all on Metzeler and all in with a chance of taking top honours.
The German manufacturer has been involved in enduro since 1935, and this will see the number of FIM Enduro World Championship titles claimed on MCE 6 Days Extreme tyres jump to 29 since 2005.
There is also the potential for Holcombe or Remes to steal the Enduro GP title ahead of current class leader Matthew Phillips, who holds a slender points advantage over the Metzeler duo heading into the final round in September.
The riders may have a long summer break ahead of them before the final races of the season, but no doubt they’ll be working hard to ensure they have the best chance of claiming their respective titles in just under two month’s time.
