Ringing in the changes for the new year, John Lampkin (pictured) and his Beta UK Trials team have announced a switch to Michelin tyres in 2016.
This will be the team’s for tyre brand change in more than a decade, and will see them compete all over the UK and abroad on the French manufacturer’s championship winning Trials X-Light Comp rubber.
John Lampkin, Beta UK said: “We are pleased to announce that Beta UK will use Michelin tyres for our 2016 trials team. We recognise Michelin is the ‘reference’ when it comes to trials tyres, and we feel having Michelin on board will offer our team a big advantage.
The Michelin tyre has been developed by top World Championship riders, which I think is the reason why the tyre is so good. We have some of the best bikes available, but without grip they cannot work correctly. Grip on a trials bike is critical and I believe having Michelin tyres will give my riders the best equipment available to them.”
This is truly a tyre with real pedigree, having won the World Trials Championship both indoor and outdoor with Toni Bou for the last nine years. It is a lightweight tyre which offers excellent maneuverability thanks to Michelin’s Maximised Contact Patch technology, which sees the tyre hug rocks and other obstacles to deliver unparalleled levels of grip.
Lampkin added: “In 2016, we will contest all the British Championship adult and schoolboy events, and all the major trials throughout the year, including the Scottish Six Days Trial and the Scott Trial. We will also compete in the World Junior Championship and selected European Championship events.”
